It Isn’t Paint!

It is not a replacement for paint.

Vehicle wrap films are an excellent way of changing the colour of your vehicle or advertising cheaply but no matter how good they are or how expertly they are applied they are not paint and so will never be able to do the same thing. All of our vehicle wrapping films are of the highest quality however they all do have limits of what they will do, how much they will stretch, stick & conform.

With years of experience our wrap technicians know how to minimize the impact of these limitations but very few wraps can ever be as perfect as paint in terms of coverage and finish.

On close inspection most vehicle wraps will show up areas where the vinyl has had to be pieced in or trimmed up. Most of the time our fitters ensure that these aspects are kept out of the field of view but we must let you know that they are there.

Here is a quick run down of the pros & cons of vehicle wraps so you can gauge if it is something you want to do

Pros

  • Semipermanently change the colour of your vehicle with no damage to the paintwork
  • Change the colour of your car without having the notify the DVLA
  • Remove the wrap film at anytime to return the vehicle to it original colour
  • Specialist colours & finishes  that aren't available as paint.
  • Easier to clean than paintwork (for most finishes)
  • Protect the paintwork
  • Change the colour of your car for a fraction of the cost of a respray

Cons

  • Can never achieve complete coverage of original paintwork
  • Intricate areas may need to be piece/trimmed in
  • Finished surface cannot be as smooth as paint
  • Most wrap vinyls have a lifespan of only 5 years
  • Will not cover up damage, rust, scratches or dents
  • Older vehicles can have issues if the paintwork is flat
  • Vinyl could become infected in the manufacture or application process and need replacing early in its life (coverage by warranty)
